Two C-17 Globemaster IIIs sit on the flightline at McChord Air Force Base, Wash. as the sun rises. Airmen preflight and load one of the planes to support the first ever C-17 polar airdrop. Over 10,000 gallons of fuel will be airdropped to aid the National Science Foundation scientists near the North Pole.
