Pascagoula, Miss. (Jan. 25, 2005) -- The amphibious assault ship USS
Saipan (LHA 2) is escorted by several tug boats up the channel into the
Bayou Casotte East Harbor of the Port of Pascagoula, Miss. Saipan is on
scheduled two-month deployment to the U.S. Southern Command (NAVSO)
area of responsibility in support of New Horizons, the humanitarian
assistance efforts in Haiti. As part of New Horizons, U.S. forces will
build schoolhouses, drill wells and provide medical attention to the
