Description:
The AS-1356/URC is a high power dipole array which provides
broadband, omnidirectional coverage for general purpose
communications use in the 225-400 MHz frequency band. It has
a minimum gain of 10 dBi.
The antenna is a
parallel-fed, colinear array of eight radiating elements
enclosed and sealed within an epoxy fiberglass radome for
prolonged, trouble-free use under severe environmental
conditions. It will withstand sustained winds to 150 knots.
The array handles input
powers to 2 kW. It is untuned and operates over its entire
frequency range with a VSWR on 50 ohms of less than 1.8: 1.
Maximum signal intensity is directed near the horizon, with
a nominal 2° uptilt to minimize the effects of ground
reflections. The half-power beamwidth over the design band
is 6° - 10°. Azimuth coverage is omnidirectional
to within +/- 1 dB.
The RF input connector is
a 1 - 5/8 inch EIA flange in the base. Provision is made for
pressurizing the radome from the transmission line. A
pressure purging connector is installed in the base.
Provision is made for
mounting optional aircraft obstruction lights atop the
antenna radome. These Iights can be energized from a 115 VAC
connector in the base. |
