Description:
The AS-2801/SRT is a wire rope antenna designed for use
onboard LHA amphibious assault ships. It consists of two
wire rope sections, one for the starboard antenna and the
other for the port antenna. The antennas are strung between
the yardarms of two masts. The starboard antenna is fed from
a tuner on the after mast and the port antenna from a tuner
on the forward mast. The antenna may be used with any
transmitting equipment capable of operating within its
frequency range and power handling limitations.
Installation: The wire rope sections are
attached to padeyes on the yardarms. The lead to each tuner
is made from a TEE fitting to a strain insulator and jumper
to the tuner. A safety link is used at the end opposite the
feed point of each horizontal section.
Considerations: After installation the antenna
must be stressed as specified in the installation
requirements. The area in the vicinity of the couplers and
feed points must be kept clear of interferences from ship's
rigging. All fittings must be treated with vinyl coatings to
reduce electrostatic interference from precipitation. |
