Description:
The AS-2803/SRC antenna is a twin fan wire rope antenna
initially designed for installation on LHA amphibious
assault ships. The antenna consists of dual triangular wire
rope fans and a matching unit. The matching unit is used to
transform the antenna input impedance to the impedance of
the transmission line. The radiating elements of the antenna
are manufactured from vinyl covered phosphor bronze wire
rope. The antenna may be used with any transmitting and/or
receiving equipment designed to operate within its frequency
range and RF power handling limitations.
Installation: A typical installation of atwin
fan antenna is shown in the figure below. The exact
configuration of each individual installation will be
dependent on the ships structure.
Considerations: The antenna contains numerous
mechanical and electrical connections. Extreme care must be
exercised to insure that all metal-to-metal connections are
clean and tight and that all brazed connections have been
made properly. Various mechanical fittings require torque
adjustments in accordance with the manufacturer's
specifications during final installation. |
