US Military Sensors : AS-2807/SRC

AS-2807/SRC
Physical Dimensions
Height 435 inches
Width 11 inches (tapering)
Depth 11 inches (tapering)
Weight 150 lbs
Operating Temperature -54 C to +65 C
Frequency Range Receive: 14 kHz to 32 MHz
Transmit: 300 kHz to 32 MHz
Input Impedance 50 ohms (nominal)
VSWR The VSWR of this antenna in a 50 ohm system may vary from 2000:1 at low frequencies to approximately 1:1 near the antenna quarter wave frequency. The ship's structure in the vicinity of the antenna will influence both the impedance and radiation pattern.
Polarization Vertical when mounted on a true ground plane. Elliptical depending on mounting, frequency and direction in the vertical and horizontal planes when mounted onboard ship.
RF Power Rating 5 kilowatts
Power Requirement none
Feed Type Unbalanced
Input Connector Bolt connection at base of lower section

Description: The AS-2807/SRC Antenna is a general purpose omnidirectional 35 foot whip. The whip consists of three tapering aluminum sections supported by a fiberglass base insulator. A fiberglass vibration damper is installed on the top of the assembly. This antenna may be used for transmitting and/or receiving in the VLF, LF, MF, and HF frequency ranges. It can be installed in a vertical, tilted, or horizontal position as in an aircraft carrier deck edge installation.

Installation: The antenna may be installed on the ship's deck or structure by means of a 19 inch square base plate drilled for twelve 9/16 inch bolt holes. The base plate has a 11 - 3/16 inch square by 7 inches high adapter piece that fits outside the antenna fiberglass insulator. The antenna insulator is then bolted to the base adapter piece.

Considerations: This antenna may be installed on base tilting mounts where required for aircraft operations. The antenna base may be mounted directly to the tilting mount using the regular antenna base.
