Description:
The AS-2809/SRC antenna is an omnidirectional broadband
vertical center-fed dipole. All major components of the
radiating and support structures are aluminum. The central
feed section and radiating elements are protected by a
laminated fiberglass cover. The AS-2809/SRC may be used with
any VHF transmitting and/or receiving equipment designed to
operate within its frequency range and RF power handling
limitations.
Installation: The antenna assembly mounting
flange has four 9/32 inch holes for 1/4 inch bolts on a 3 -
7/8 inch diameter bolt circle for use in mounting the
antenna. The antenna may be installed on a suitable mounting
plate having matching bolt holes. The mounting plate must
have a center hole to accommodate the antenna transmission
line.
Considerations: The location for the
AS-2809/SRC should be selected to provide maximum
omnidirectional coverage within the physical constraint of
the ship's structure. VHF propagation in the frequency range
of this antenna is generally line-of-sight; therefore,
antennas that are masked by surrounding structures produce
limited coverage in azimuth and/or elevation. |
