Description:
The AS-2815/SSR-1 is a unit of the AN/SSR-1 Satellite Signal
Receiving Set. It consists of two loop antennas and two
parasitic dipoles. The loops are driven in phase quadrature,
and the dipoles are parasitically excited. Four
AS-2815/SSR-1 antennas are supplied with each system.
Installation: The antenna mounting base has
four 25/32 inch bolt holes on a 5 - 1/2 inch diameter bolt
circle for use in the installation of the antenna; the
overall diameter of the base plate is 7 - 1/8 inches. The
antenna may be deck mounted or installed on a suitable
mounting base. The four antenna locations should be as
widely separated as possible with one located in each
quadrant of the ship to provide hemispherical receiving
capability.
Considerations: Each antenna operates in
conjunction with an AM-6534/SSR-1 Amplifier-Converter. Each
amplifier-converter must be located so that the coaxial
cable from its associated antenna does not exceed ten feet.
A stainless steel spacer is required between the aluminum
antenna base and any dissimilar metal to which it may be
attached. Stainless steel bolts must be used to secure the
antenna to the mounting base. |
