Description:
The AS-2865/SRC is an omnidirectional broadband antenna
designed for deck installation on the ship's bow. This type
is generally classified as a bow stub antenna. It consists
of a central mast and top radiator and manufactured of
aluminum. The top radiator consists of twelve equally spaced
elements with a resultant diameter of 14 feet. The antenna
may be used with any transmitting and/or receiving equipment
designed to operate within its frequency range and RF power
handling capabilities.
Installation: The support mast base flange is
24 inches in diameter with twelve equally spaced bolt holes
on a 20 inch bolt circle drilled to accommodate 1 inch
diameter bolts. The antenna is mounted to a mast foundation
welded to the ship's deck. Eight equally spaced vinyl
covered wire rope guys are required from the mast to the
ship's deck. The coaxial transmission line is terminated at
the radiating element. Clamps are provided for securing the
transmission line to the mast.
Considerations: The foundation for the antenna
must be made to suit the camber and sheer of the ship's deck
so that the antenna mating surface is level. The faying
surfaces between the foundation and antenna base must be
treated to prevent electrolytic action between dissimilar
metals. |
