Description:
The AS-2877/SRC is a dual frequency omnidirectional UHF
Antenna. The radiating elements are cylindrical dipoles
arranged around a center support. A waveguide runs from the
base plate through the center to the top of the antenna
housing. The antennas and supports are enclosed in a
fiberglass radome. The dipoles are configured to give a
minimum separation of 25 dB between channels. The waveguide
provides facilities to install an ECM antenna, such as the
AS-1175/SLR, on top of the radome. The AS-2877/SRC may be
used with any UHF transmitting and/or receiving equipment
capable of operating within its frequency range and RF power
handling capabilities.
Installation: The antenna assembly mounting
flange has eight 11/16 inch diameter bolt holes equally
spaced on an 11 - 3/4 inch bolt circle for use in mounting
the antenna. The antenna may be installed on a suitable
mounting plate having matching bolt holes. The mounting
plate must have a center hole to accommodate the antenna
transmission lines and waveguide.
Considerations: The location for the
AS-2877/SRC should be selected to provide maximum
omnidirectional coverage within the physical constraints of
the ship's structure. UHF propagation in the frequency range
of the antenna is generally line-of-sight; therefore,
antennas that are masked by surrounding structures produce
limited coverage in azimuth and/or elevation. |
