Description:
The AS-4038/SRC is a 12 foot whip antenna designed for
general purpose use with military communications equipment.
It is particularly suitable for prolonged installation in
shipboard marine environments and can be operated in a
vertical, tilted or horizontal position in such locations as
the deck edges of an aircraft carrier.
The antenna consists of
an aluminum radiating element, a fiberglass base insulator
and a base mounting flange. The single-section radiator is
square in cross section and tapers from 11 inches at the
base to 7 1/2 inches at the top. A top cap is provided.
The base insulator
consists of four 1/4 inch thick epoxy fiberglass panels
attached to the bottom of the radiator and reinforced by
angle sections along each corner. The insulator electrically
isolates and physically supports the aluminum whip above the
mounting base.
The base mounting flange
is used to bolt the antenna to a foundation surface. A
flange of either steel or aluminum can be provided, to suit
the installation requirements.
The AS-4038/SRC can be
used singly for general receiving or transmitting
applications. It is also used as a basic component in
assembling the antenna assembly AS-4037/SAC for broadband
10-30 MHz purposes. |
