Description:
The AT-948/U is a rugged, lightweight dipole array which
provides vertically polarized, omnidirectional coverage for
medium power, general purpose use in the 400-550 MHz
frequency band.
The antenna is a
two-element colinear array enclosed and sealed within an
epoxy fiberglass radome for prolonged, trouble-free use
under severe environmental conditions. It is untuned and
operates over its entire frequency range with a VSWR, on 50
ohms of less than 1.6: 1, at average power levels to 2 kW.
The radiating elements
are fed in parallel to provide a half-power vertical
beamwidth of 250 to 350 and a peak gain of 41/2 to 6 dBi. A
moderate upward beam tilt is incorporated to reduce the
effects of ground reflections. Currents on the upper
radiator are interrupted to provide effective pattern
fill-in of the overhead cone of silence.
Mounting is by means of
an integral base flange. A coaxial, type LC input connector
and a radome purging plug are recessed into the base.
