Description:
Antenna Assembly AS-1023/SLR is an omnipolarized direction
finding antenna used with electronic countermeasure
equipment. The assembly consists of a pedestal, dipole
antennas, and rotatable reflector. The pedestal contains the
servo motor, tachometer generator, azimuth indicator synchro
generator, and rotary joints. The antenna array consists of
two two-crossed dipoles, bicircularly polarized, mounted on
the same horizontal axis with back-to-back reflectors. Each
of the dipoles has two outputs which may be used
independently or simultaneously by two separate receivers.
Control of the antenna may be accomplished by use of a
C-1609/SLR Control Indicator. The antenna array is enclosed
within a fiberglass radome.
Installation: The antenna assembly should be
mounted as high as possible on a mast platform in such a
position as to give a clear view of the horizon with as few
obstructions as possible. The pedestal base has four 13/16
inch bolt holes on 16 inch centers for mounting purposes.
The pedestal bench marks must be aligned with the ship's
centerline. A minimum clearance of 14 inches is required
beneath the pedestal for servicing.
Considerations: The AS-1023/SLR should be
located out of the field of high power radar transmitters.
It should not be located closer than 10 feet from masts and
other structures having large diameters. |
