Description:
Antenna AS-1174/SLR is an omnidirectional receiving antenna
for use with electronic countermeasures receiving equipment.
The antenna consists of a fiberglass cone with two spirally
wound bands of aluminum tape. These bands wind around the
cone from base to top and feed through the top of the cone
to a coaxial cable. The antenna element is enclosed in a
fiberglass radome. A triplexing filter, Type D74097, is
supplied with the AS-1174/SLR to provide three outputs. The
outputs correspond to particular bands within the frequency
range of the antenna.
Installation: The base of the antenna has eight
10-32 size. holes equally spaced on a 12 inch diameter bolt
circle for mounting the antenna to a pipe support. The
triplexer has five 7/32 inch holes for mounting to a flat
surface. The antenna should be mounted in as clear area as
possible to give unobstructed omnidirectional coverage. The
centerline of the antenna must be perpendicular to the
normal trim water line of the ship.
Considerations: The site selected for mounting
the triplexer should be near the antenna. The coaxial cable
between the antenna and filter should be as short as
possible to keep down high frequency losses. The triplexer
should be protected from mechanical damage. |
