Description:
Antenna AS-1175/SLR is an omnidirectional receiving antenna
for use with electronic countermeasures receiving equipment.
The receiving element of the antenna consists of a brass
discone supported by a solid jacketed coaxial feed cable.
The feed cable terminates as a coupling probe in the antenna
waveguide. One end of the waveguide terminates in a short
circuit, and the other end terminates in the waveguide
flange. This flange connects to a waveguide which feeds
signals to the receiver. The antenna element is enclosed in
a fiberglass radome.
Installation: The antenna base plate has three
7/32 inch bolt holes equally spaced 90 degrees apart on 1
inch centers for securing the antenna to its mounting. The
antenna may be mounted to a pipe or flat support using
aluminum spacers. The antenna should be mounted in as clear
an area as possible to give unobstructed omnidirectional
coverage. The centerline of the antenna must be
perpendicular to the normal trim waterline of the ship.
Considerations: The AS-1175/SLR is physically
small and should be located in areas that will offer
protection from physical damage. The antenna should not be
located closer than two feet from metallic objects or within
the strong fields of transmitting antennas. |
