Description:
The AS-1341/ULQ-5AX is a broad beam fixed antenna used with
the AN/ULQ-5AX Countermeasures Set. Two antennas are
supplied with each system, one for receiving and one for
transmitting. The antenna consists of a horn-type radiator
and reflectors designed to limit the vertical component of
the radiated signal. The waveguide flange coupling is
located on the rear of the assembly. An isolation shelf to
limit interaction between the transmit and receive antennas
is also supplied.
Installation: Each antenna has two circular
clamps attached to the rear frame. The clamps are designed
for a three inch diameter support pipe. In an integrated ECM
system antenna installation the AS-1341/ULQ-5AX antennas are
usually mounted above and below the fixed antenna of the
higher frequency ECM system. The lower antenna is used as
the transmitting antenna. The isolation shield is installed
immediately above the transmitting antenna. A transition
piece is required to adapt the antenna waveguide flange to
coaxial cable transmission line.
Considerations: If the antennas are to be
installed independently they should be installed as far
outboard as possible to obtain maximum unobstructed
coverage. The distance between the horizontal centerlines of
the antennas should not be less than 120 inches. The area in
the immediate vicinity of the antennas should be clear of
reflecting surfaces. |
