Description:
Antenna AS-2308/SLD-1 is an electronically rotated antenna
for use with Direction Finder Set AN/SLD-1. Two identical
units are employed with each system. Each AS-2308/SLD-1
contains four horn antennas, switching control circuitry,
diplexer, TWT amplifier, and detector. The four horns in
each antenna provide coverage of 180 . Therefore, two
antennas placed on opposite sides of the ship will give 360
degree coverage. The output signals of each antenna are
processed by the OA-8482/SLD-1 Signal Data Comparator Group
to determine their azimuth. The output signals of the
OA-8482/SLD-1 are then displayed on the C-785l/SLD-1 Control
Indicator. The AN/SLD-1 is used in the ship's ECM system.
Installation: The frequency range in which this
antenna operates requires line-of-sight radio paths. In
order to obtain an unobstructed omnidirectional coverage,
each antenna must be located in a clear area as close as
possible to the outboard side of the ship. The bottom of the
unit is fitted with six 1/2 inch blind bolt holes for
mounting the antenna.
Considerations: Each antenna requires
pressurization from a source of dry air. The pressure should
be maintained at one to two psig. The length of the coaxial
cables between the antenna and comparator unit must not
exceed 400 feet. |
