Description:
The AS-2430/SL is a broad beam fixed antenna used with
electronics countermeasures equipment. Two antennas are used
with each system, one for transmitting and one for
receiving. The antenna assembly consists of a mounting
plate, top and bottom shells forming the outline of a
sectoral horn assembly and a polarization twister. Heater
bands are installed on each shell to prevent icing. A
pressure relief valve is mounted on the antenna for bleeding
and prevents overpressurization of the waveguide and the
horn element. Two AS-2430/SL and one AS-243l/SLA-15
trainable antennas comprise one system. The complete antenna
portion of the AN/SLA-15 Antenna Group consists of four
AS-2430/ SL and two AS-2431/SLA-15 antennas.
Installation: The mounting flange has four
13/32 inch bolt holes on 9 inch vertical and 14 inch
horizontal centers for use in mounting the antenna. The
AS-2430/SL Antennas are mounted above and below the
AS-2431/SLA-15 trainable antenna, as far outboard as
possible to obtain maximum unobstructed coverage. Generally,
the three antennas are mounted on a common vertical
structure. The area in the vicinity of the antennas should
be clear of reflecting surfaces.
Considerations: The antenna and its associated
waveguide require pressurization, not to exceed 2 psig, from
a source of dry air. The length of the waveguide from the
antennas to the transmitting and receiving equipments must
not exceed 25 feet. The minimum allowable distance between
the horizontal centerlines of a pair of fixed antennas is 10
feet. |
