Description:
The AS-571/SLR Antenna is a high-gain directional antenna
designed for use with countermeasure receiving equipment. It
consists of a pedestal and reflector assembly. The pedestal
supports the reflector assembly and houses the drive
assembly, rotating joint, and synchro generator for antenna
position information. The reflector assembly consists of the
reflector, dipole arrays, and a coaxial switch. One side of
the reflector has three vertically polarized dipoles; the
other side has two dipoles horizontally polarized. The
coaxial switch, operated from a control indicator, selects
either the horizontal or vertical arrays, only one of which
may be used at a time. A control indicator, such as the
C-1609/SLR, is required for operation of this antenna.
Installation: The antenna should be located so
as to provide a line-of-sight view of the horizon with a
minimum of obstructions. The pedestal casting has four 13/16
inch holes on 16 inch centers for connecting the coaxial
transmission line.
Considerations: The AS-S71/SLR Antenna should
not be located closer than ten feet from other masts and
other structures having large diameters. It should not be
located in the strong fields of transmitting antennas. |
