Description:
The AS-616A/SLR Antenna is a rotatable two-band array used
with electronic countermeasures . equipment. It consists of
a pedestal and a multi-antenna array. The pedestal contains
the servo motor, slip ring assembly, rotating joint, rate
generator and azimuth synchro generator. The antenna array
has two low frequency dipole antennas arranged back-to-back,
one horizontally polarized and the other vertically
polarized. The high frequency antenna consists of two horn
arrays arranged back-to-back and of opposite polarization
mounted below the low frequency dipoles. Two coaxial
switches are mounted on the array to allow selection of
polarization, each array from a remote control position.
Control of antenna may be accomplished by use of a control
indicator, such as the C-1609/SLR Control Indicator. A
CW-456/SR radome covers the entire array.
Installation: The antenna should be located so
as to provide an omnidirectional line-of-sight view of the
horizon with a minimum of obstructions. The pedestal casting
has four 13/16 inch bolt holes on 16 inch centers for
mounting purposes. A minimum clearance of 12 inches is
required below the pedestal for connecting the coaxial
transmission lines.
Considerations: The AS-616A/SLR should not be
located closer than 10 feetfrom masts and other structures
having large diameters. It should not be installed in the
strong fields of transmitting antennas. |
