Description:
The NT-66131 Antenna Assembly is a fixed cone type used with
countermeasures receiving equipment. The assembly consists
of the antenna element and a ground plane made up of seven
rods attached to a metal plate. The antenna is enclosed in a
fiberglass radome. The base contains an impedance matching
section to match the antenna to the transmission line. Two
antennas, one port and one starboard, are used per
installation to furnish 360 degree azimuth coverage. The
selection of individual antennas is accomplished by the use
of coaxial switches at the ECM operating position.
Installation: The bottom of the ground plane
has a 1 - 1/2 inch IPS threaded coupling for use in mounting
the antenna. The coupling is attached at a 45 degree angle
to properly position the antenna for the reception of both
horizontally and vertically polarized signals. The antenna
may be mounted on yardarms, masts, or platforms by means of
a 1 - 1/2 inch pipe welded to the ship's structure. The
length of the mounting pipe should not be less than 22
inches. The center ground rod of each antenna should be
pointed 45 degrees from the ship's bow.
Considerations: The antenna assemblies should
be located so as to provide as great an unobstructed view of
their sectors as possible. They should not be installed in
close proximity to transmitting antennas. |
