Description:
The NT-66132 Antenna Assembly is a fixed stub type used with
countermeasures receiving equipment. The assembly consists
of a stub radiator and a fan-shaped ground plane. The stub
is constructed of phenolic impregnated maple covered with a
conducting material. The base contains an impedance matching
section to match the antenna to the transmission line. Two
antennas, one starboard and one port, are used per
installation to furnish 360 degree azimuth coverage. The
selection of individual antennas is accomplished by use of
coaxial switches at the ECM operating position.
Installation: The bottom of the ground plane is
fitted with a 1 - 1/2 inch IPS threaded coupling for use in
mounting the antenna. The coupling is attached at a 450
degree angle to properly position the antenna to receive
both horizontally and vertically polarized signals. The
antenna should be mounted vertically and may be attached to
yard arms, masts, or platforms by means of a 1 - 1/2 inch
pipe welded to the ship's structure. The length of the
mounting pipe should not be less than 19 inches. The center
ground rod of each antenna should be pointed 45 degrees from
the ship's bow.
Considerations: The antenna assemblies should
be located so as to provide as great an unobstructed view of
their sections as possible. They should not be installed in
close proximity to transmitting antennas. |
