Unit Insignia

  • Description: Upon and over a silver annulet charged with the motto: "We Succeed" in blue lettering, a blue martlet holding in its beak a silver decrescent.
  • Symbolism: The design is based upon the numerical designation of the Division, the decrescent held in the martlet’s beak symbolizing the Roman numeral "C" representing 100, and the martlet being the heraldic representation of the fourth son. The decrescent was also used in medieval times to indicate participation in the crusades.
  • Background: The distinctive unit insignia was originally authorized for the Headquarters and Military Police Company, 104th Infantry Division on 15 Dec 1942. It was redesignated for the Headquarters Company, 104th Infantry Division on 19 Jun 1945. On 8 Jun 1967 the insignia was authorized for the 104th Division (Training).
