Insignia
- Description: A
gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches
(3.02cm) in height overall, consisting of a purple globe
with gold gridlines, between a green open wreath of
olive branches on the left and oak leaves on the right,
the globe surmounted by a gold Liberty Bell, all below a
semi-circular gold scroll inscribed "SUSTAIN THE
PEACE" in scarlet.
- Symbolism:
Purple and white are colors traditionally associated
with Civil Affairs organizations. The Liberty Bell,
symbolic of freedom, alludes to Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, where the unit was originally constituted
and activated and is stationed. The globe refers to the
unit's worldwide capabilities. The open wreath of olive
branches and oak leaves symbolize the unit's mission to
assist in the maintaining of civil order and in support
of combat and post combat phases of military operations.
- Background: The
distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for
the 304th Civil Affairs Group on 22 Mar 1972. The
insignia was redesignated for the 304th Civil Affairs
Brigade, with description and symbolism revised, on 5
Mar 1993.

Shoulder
Sleeve Insignia
- Description: A
purple rectangle arced at the top and bottom with a 1/8
inch (.32cm) gold border 2 inches (5.08cm) in width and
3 inches (7.62cm) in height overall, charged with a
white torch issuing from base superimposed by a gold
stylized Liberty Bell.
- Symbolism:
Purple and white are the colors traditionally associated
with Civil Affairs units. Gold denotes excellence and
achievement. The torch and bell symbolize leadership,
guidance and freedom.
- Background: The
shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 5 Mar 1993.
