- Description: A
gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches
(3.02cm) in height overall consisting of a globe with
gold gridlines, quartered purple and white, surmounted
overall by a gold phoenix rising out of scarlet flames,
all in front of an open gold scroll rolled back at each
end and inscribed above the globe, "PHOENIX"
in red enamel letters.
- Symbolism: The
phoenix with the open scroll symbolizes the Group's
mission to re-establish civil order out of chaos. The
globe alludes to the 301st Civil Affairs Group's global
capabilities. Purple and white are colors used by Civil
Affairs units.
- Background: The
distinctive unit insignia was approved on 18 Mar 1970.
