Insignia
- Description: A
gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches
(3.02cm) in height overall, consisting of a purple globe
with gold gridlines, overall horizontally a white scroll
rolled at each end, surmounted overall by a vertical
gold sword point up; attached below the device a
triparted gold scroll overlapping the sword pommel and
edges of the globe and inscribed "ADVISE ORGANIZE
DIRECT" in red letters.
- Symbolism:
Purple and white are colors traditionally associated
with Civil Affairs units. The white scroll alludes to
civil and military law, while the globe refers to the
unit's global capabilities. The scroll with the sword
also symbolizes the unit's mission to maintain civil
order and to support combat and post combat phases of
military operations.
- Background: The
distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for
the 308th Civil Affairs Group on 20 Oct 1971. The
insignia was redesignated, with description and
symbolism revised, for the 308th Civil Affairs Brigade
on 3 Feb 1993.

Shoulder
Sleeve Insignia
- Description: A
purple rectangle arced at the top and bottom with a 1/8
inch (.32cm) gold border 2 inches (5.08cm) in width and
3 inches (7.62cm) in height overall, bearing a white
fess and charged overall with a gold sword.
- Symbolism:
Purple and white are the colors traditionally associated
with Civil Affairs units. Gold denotes excellence and
achievement. The three sections of the background
reflect the transition from conflict and the upraised
sword symbolizes the Brigade's mission to defend and
enforce the peace.
- Background: The
shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 3 Feb 1993.
