- Description: A
gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm)
in height overall consisting of a white enamel open
scroll between a vertical gold sword to the left and a
vertical gold quill to the right surmounting the scroll
and extending beyond at top and base a gold lightning
flash point in base issuing a red enamel flame over the
hilt of the sword and the pen of the quill, all within a
continuous purple enamel scroll arced below the flame in
base, passing behind the sword, lightning flash and
quill at the top, and inscribed on the lower portion "ADVISE
ASSIST GUIDE" in gold letters.
- Symbolism:
Purple and white are the colors used for Civil Affairs.
The sword, open scroll and quill represent the
organization. The flash and fire are the symbols of
Prometheus, the Greek Titan, who, when mankind was
periled, established order, an act symbolizing the
organization's overall mission. The flash also denotes
the efficient services provided by the unit in the many
processes involving the organization's capabilities.

distinctive unit insignia was approved on 31 Mar 1971.
