Insignia
- Description: A
gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18cm)
in width overall consisting of two diagonal opposed gold
metal swords with black hilts, the points up and meeting
at the red flame of a black vertical torch issuing
through a black civic crown in front of a horizontal
white enamel open scroll surmounting a purple globe with
gold metal gridlines and all wreathed at the sides and
base by green oak leaves.
- Symbolism:
Purple and white are colors used for Civil Affairs. The
globe, torch, scroll and civic crown symbolize the
worldwide aspects and control of civilian activities,
facilities and material within those territorial areas
in which armed forces are employed. The swords represent
maximum support and assistance to the military
operations and conduct of Civil Affairs and military
government activities. The green oak leaves are symbolic
of stability.
- Background: The
distinctive unit insignia was authorized on 27 Dec 1976.

Shoulder
Sleeve Insignia
- Description: On
a purple shield arched at top and bottom, 2 inches
(5.08cm) in width and 3 inches (7.62cm) in height
overall a white opened scroll, rolled top and bottom,
bearing a green stylized fir tree in front of a vertical
white sword with point up and within a 1/8 inch (.32cm)
white border.
- Symbolism: The
sword and scroll were suggested by the Civil Affairs
insignia of branch. The stylized fir tree represents the
forests of Oregon, symbolizing the present location of
the organization. Purple and white are colors used for
Civil Affairs units.
- Background: The
shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized on 21 Dec 1976.
