gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18cm)
in height overall consisting of a scarlet enamel disc
bearing at center left a white enamel Liberty Bell,
details in gold, surmounted overall at lower right a
blue enamel rider and horse with details in gold, all
above a semi-circular blue enamel scroll inscribed "EXPECT
THE UNEXPECTED" in gold letters.
- Symbolism: The
horse and rider depict Caesar Rodney going to the First
Continental Congress to cast the deciding Delaware vote
for independence for freedom from British tyranny
symbolized by the Liberty Bell. The motto "EXPECT
THE UNEXPECTED" alludes to the 390th Civil Affairs
Group's readiness to protect the peace. Red, white and
blue are the colors of the National flag.
