a Gray oblong with rounded top the Greek letter Delta in
Red, within the delta on a White background the letter D
in Blue.
- Symbolism: Red,
white and blue are our National colors. The Greek letter
recalls the Delta of the Mississippi and with the
English "D" the two letters recall the popular
name of the Division.
- Background: The
Secretary of War approved the shoulder sleeve insignia
on 8 Feb 1922.
