  • Description: A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a Silver color metal fleur-de-lis surmounted by a Black enamel grenade with a Yellow flame, interlaced with a sword bendwise, a blade Silver color metal, hilt Yellow enamel, overall in base a Red enamel scroll bearing the inscription "VICTORY THROUGH SUPPORT" in Silver color metal letters.
  • Symbolism: The fleur-de-lis symbolizes battle honors awarded in campaigns in Europe during World War II. The grenade refers to the 51st Ordnance, the organization from which the 51st Maintenance Battalion descended. The five tongues of the flame refer to the formation of the present organization and its five basic technical services and the interlaced sword alludes to steadily maintained military support.
  • Background: The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 10 Mar 1967.

  • Description: Shield: Per bend Vert and Azure, on a bend wavy Argent a bendlet wavy Gules between four fleurs-de-lis of the third. Crest: On a wreath of the colors Argent and Azure a mound Vert supporting a grenade Sable flammant of fire tongues Or interlaced with a sword bendwise Argent hilt of the third. Motto: VICTORY THROUGH SUPPORT.
  • Symbolism: Shield: The wavy bend, suggested by the coat of arms of the Rhineland, and the four fleurs-de-lis are used to symbolize the five battle honors awarded the unit in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe campaigns during World War II. The red bendlet simulates a streamer and alludes to the two Meritorious Unit Commendations awarded the unit during that war.   • Background: The coat of arms was originally approved for the 51st Maintenance Battalion on 5 Jan 1967. It was cancelled on 14 Jun 1974. On 16 Jun 1992, the coat of arms was reinstated, with blazon and symbolism of the crest revised.
