Gulf of Thailand (June 17, 2006) -- The counter measure wash down system aboard amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46) is tested to ensure its readiness on the ship's foc'sle. Tortuga is enroute to Thailand for the 2nd phase of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT). CARAT is an annual series of bilateral maritime training exercises between the United States and six Southeast Asian nations designed to build relationships and enhance the operational readiness of the participating forces.
