EAST CHINA SEA (Nov. 19, 2008) -- The amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) steams in formation with the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer JS Haruna (DDH 141). U.S. Navy and Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force ships assigned to the George Washington Carrier Strike Group and the Essex Expeditionary Strike Group during the bilateral exercise ANNUALEX.
